Dear Students:
According to our recent study of student performance in the undergraduate program in Spanish, the vast majority of students who receive a grade of a C or lower in 115 or 116 have not been successful in the advanced-level Spanish classes. Thus, we are limiting access to the advanced level courses by instituting a continuation requirement.
Specifically, students seeking admission to Spanish 213 must have received a grade of a “B or better” in Spanish 116. Students seeking admission to Spanish 215, 223, or 233 must have received a “B or better” in Spanish 213.
This continuation requirement will go into effect for the spring of 2010. Students who have not earned “B or better” in 116 or 213 this fall or in any previous semester will be dropped from their subsequent class for spring.
Sincerely, Dr. Pancrazio
