The German Alumni New-Student Scholarship

Beginning with the fall semester 2008, scholarships will be awarded annually to 3 students who enter ISU as German majors. Applications are accepted each preceding spring semester up until May 31. Awards will be announced each year by the end of June at which time scholarship recipients will receive notification.

Candidate qualifications:

  • student must be new or transfer
  • student must enroll as a German major (can enroll at 100 or 200 level)

Applications should include the following:

  • your high school GPA and GPA in German
  • the number of years you have taken German
  • one letter of recommendation from a German instructor
  • a brief essay in English (or German, if possible, and depending on your level of proficiency), explaining
    • your interest in German,
    • your general intellectual interests,
    • your thoughts about your future career or profession, and
    • any other reasons you believe you should be considered especially for this scholarship
