Plan of Study

Students must complete 33 semester credits of graduate course work, choosing concentrations among the following areas: culture, linguistics / language, literature, or teaching methods / pedagogy. Full-time students typically take 9 to 12 hours (3 to 4 classes) per semester.

For complete information about the program, including requirements, study abroad, transfer credits, TESOL and Teacher Certification, comprehensive exams, and other details, see the Graduate Student Handbook.

Current students: Don't forget that at the beginning of your final semester you must complete a DEGREE AUDIT FORM with the assistance of the Graduate Coordinator of your language section and forward a copy to the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS). The DGS will assess it and, if approved, ask you for a final copy in PDF form, which will be submitted to the Graduate School. Consult with your Graduate Coordinator if you have questions regarding this procedure.
