Admission to Professional Studies (formerly Teacher Education):

Once you have completed 30 hours of college level work (including a C or better in English 101 and Com 110 or their equivalents), you should do the following:

• Attend a meeting for prospective Teacher Ed majors in French, German and Spanish. This is held once each semester. Students will be notified via listservs, announcements in French, German and Spanish classes, and informational posters in Stevenson hallways.
• Interview for Departmental Approval. Before you are admitted to Professional Studies, you must receive approval from our department via an interview process. After you have attended the meeting for prospective Teacher Education majors in Languages, Literatures & Cultures (LLC), you should schedule an interview by turning in to the department office (STV 114) the Interview Form at the end of the LLC Teacher Education Guide. The interview is designed to help you clarify your goals and to discuss the program and the profession. In order to be considered for admission to the LLC Teacher Education Program, you must meet the following criteria:
o Possess an ISU cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
o Possess a major GPA of 2.75 or higher
o Pass an initial oral proficiency check by the LLC Department (speech sample)
o Demonstrate a positive disposition toward teaching via your interview and feedback provided by your professors in your major.
Interviews with program candidates are scheduled only once per semester so you must turn in your Interview Form by mid-September if you wish to be admitted for the spring or by mid-February if you wish to be admitted for the fall.
• Begin Performance Based Assessment (PBA) process for Gateway 1 as outlined at the following website:

Note: While you can take C&I 210 and C&I 212 before you are admitted to Professional Studies, you must be admitted to Professional Studies before you can register for C&I 214, C&I 216, C&I 289.75 and LAN 319.11.
